Frequently asked Questions:
Q: How long will I be in therapy?
This is a very personal decision. There is no right answer. Some people like to stay in therapy for many years because it provides them an outlet and support for their daily life struggles. Other clients are strictly there because they are looking for short term work. I work with clients on both a shorter term or longer term basis. We will never run out of things to talk about and work through!
Q: How often do people go to therapy?
Ideally, therapy is attended weekly (50 minute session). Longer sessions are also available upon request. However, some people come every other week or after a longer course of therapy decide they want to come in for monthly check-ins. I am flexible and open to discussing what works best for you.
Q: What are your hours, how will I be scheduled?
I am in the office Wednesdays thru Saturdays. Some clients prefer regular weekly appointments while others need more flexibility due to their changing schedule. My hours vary from day to day. Please inquire about my specific schedule.
Q: Do you take Insurance?
My practice is all private pay and I am not contracted currently with any insurance companies. I can provide a statement for reimbursement at the end of the month that you can submit to your insurance company. Reimbursement varies from carrier to carrier. Please inquire for more information.
Q: What is your cancellation Policy?
I currently have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you are sick, please stay home however and take care of yourself :)
Q: How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
If this is your first time in therapy, I recommend doing some therapist 'shopping' to explore different therapists and their various styles before you decide on one. Your therapy should feel comfortable and safe. You should feel heard and understood, even if there are differing opinions at times. You should feel challenged to grow in ways you have always wanted to. If for some reason you would like any referrals, I am happy to provide them for you at any time.
Q:Is my therapy confidential?
Your therapy sessions are totally private and confidential. I do not share any information without your written consent. It is important to feel secure that what we discuss is held safely in the room between us. Our offices are completely sound proofed and secure.
Please know however, that there are legal limits to confidentiality such as:
-in the case of physical or sexual abuse or neglect of a minor under 18 years of age
-Suspected physical, sexual or financial abuse or neglect of an elder or dependent adult
-a client that poses a significant threat of harm to self or others
In these instances, I would have to break confidentiality for your safety and the safety of others.
If there are any other questions I have not answered, I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation with you before we meet. Clients are charged for initial in person sessions. I look forward to hearing from you.
